• Whirlpool of India Ltd. conferred the Frost & Sullivan 2009 Business Development Strategy Leadership Award for Residential Point-of-Use Water Treatment Systems in India
Mumbai, India – 10th September, 2009 – Frost & Sullivan felicitated Whirlpool of India Ltd. with the 2009 Business Development Strategy Leadership Award in the Indian Residential Point-of-Use (POU) Water Treatment systems Market. The award was presented for demonstrating excellence in business development through its sales and competitive strategies. These strategies led to easy market penetration and helped the company to position itself as a crucial player in the residential water treatment systems market.
The Frost & Sullivan Business Development Strategy Leadership Award is bestowed upon the company that has demonstrated excellence in implementing and sustaining growth in market penetration and revenues. The recipient of this award is chosen on the basis of certain criteria. Through primary and secondary research methods, all companies’ market revenues are tracked and those exhibiting significant growth plans are noted for their strategic implementation. When a company continues to show growth in market penetration, market share and revenues by way of implementing sales strategies, it is then considered as a candidate for this award.

By doing so, we have not only added a new source of revenue to our trade partners but facilitated visibility and accessibility of the Whirlpool Purafresh range to millions of consumers, paving the way for this vital product category to become a mainstream business in large appliance stores. This award is a worthy acknowledgement that the decision on our business model was the right one."

Indian Residential POU Water Treatment Systems market was worth INR 16,500 million in 2008. Water contamination, non-availability of safe drinking water, increasing health awareness and changing life styles are the key factors which make India a high growth market. Current low penetration levels make the market more attractive. Frost & Sullivan expects the Indian POU market to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 24 percent between 2008 and 2013.
