 NSF International to Highlight Emerging Water and Climate Change Issues at International Conference in India |

• Experts Educate Companies on New Ways to Address Water Scarcity
NEW DELHI – NSF International, a leading developer of drinking water and sustainability standards, will be speaking on climate change and water conservation at the upcoming Aquatech India show in February. NSF International works to develop standards that improve water quality for varying onsite water reuse applications.
WHAT :
The first ever Aquatech India show will bring together over 200 exhibitors and feature speakers that cover important topics in water treatment such as water conservation, preventing contamination, and climate change.
WHY:
The economy of India is growing rapidly, with a combined annual growth rate of more than 10 percent. All economic activity is based on the supply and quality of water, which could be disrupted by climate change. NSF International’s Mr. Malcolm Fox will speak about the effects of climate change on water resources and Mr. Tom Bruursema will give an update on current water reuse technologies and standards, both important to addressing water scarcity issues.
WHO:
• Mr. Malcolm Fox, climate change expert and Director of NSF International’s Sustainability Programs, will give an overview of how climate change will affect regulatory costs, technological innovation, and the availability of clean water.
Mr. Fox has over 20 years of experience in environmental management and governance programs for major manufacturers and global supply chains. He is also a regular speaker at industry conferences on environmental and water resource matters. Mr. Fox was recently appointed to Director of NSF International’s sustainability services after previously serving as Vice President of Trucost North America, a leading environmental data provider. Mr. Fox played a key role in the NSF International/Trucost alliance, where he managed the integration of Trucost’s environmental footprinting capabilities into NSF International's existing portfolio of sustainability services.
• Mr. Tom Bruursema, drinking water treatment expert and General Manager of NSF International’s Drinking Water Treatment Units Certification program, will provide an overview of public health standards that NSF International has been developing for the evaluation of onsite reuse treatment technologies for graywater, blackwater, rainwater, and storm water.
Mr. Bruursema is a drinking water and wastewater treatment expert with over 24 years of experience in product certification and professional accreditation within domestic and international markets. Mr. Bruursema is an Honorary Member of the Water Quality Association (WQA) and currently serves as Chair of the WQA International Standards and Regulations Task Force.
WHEN:
• Mr. Bruursema will be speaking Thursday, February 4th from 1600 hrs to 1730 hrs during session six.
• Mr. Fox will be speaking on Friday, February 5th from 1000 hrs to 1130 hrs during session seven.
• The two-day conference will run from Wednesday, February 3rd to Friday, February 5th, 2010.
